10/31/2004 08:27:00 PM|W|P|FF|W|P|My fingers are itching to write another complaint letter, this time to the McDonald's at Shaw because they: - ran outta chocolate fudge for our sundaes - Asked us to accept strawberry sundaes instead. We asked them to cancel the sundaes and they proceeded to - scrape the fudge off the bottom of the container with a spoon - gave us messy, uncovered sundaes with a spoon stuck in each sundae - service took 15 mins instead of under 60 seconds as promised - no free cone for lousy service - no apologies - they forgot my lemonade and had to be reminded - gave serviettes only when we asked - because of the messy sundaes, i had to finish that first and was too full to eat my burger Singapore is so small, yet so big sometimes. Why is it that I keep bumping into the same people everywhere I go? I met Vox at East Coast a couple of months back and today, I bumped into him at Taka, where a huge crowd was gathered around the Subaru Challenge. There are many people I'd love to bump into but never do. How come?! Are our stars misaligned or something? I, the domesticated feline, will head off to do my laundry now. Otherwise I'll have nothing to wear next week to work. Yes, I have about 5 different sets of shirts, pants and skirts which I recycle week in week out. After he parked and we got out of the car, he said "Oh shit, I don't have cash and need to go to an ATM". I rolled my eyes because this is the same tactic he uses everytime we go out. In the end, I paid for lunch (pork ribs noodles+3 drinks+chicken rice+2 half boiled eggs and toast). 1 drink and the chicken rice was mine. The rest was his. He casually mentions his parents are out of town and invites me to his place to watch DVDs. TRRRRRIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGGG(Booty call alert siren). I declined politely. It's been six months since we broke up and I was surprised to find I am still very fond of him. As a friend. He's an easy going person and can be nice at times, if not a little stingy frugal. sharktale_releaseposterI'm not a fan of cartoons. In fact, the last animation I watched was "Toy Story", which was not by choice but circumstance as my brothers played the DVD on repeat everyday for 1 year or so. Having beaten such a great team like Arsenal last week, it was only natural that they'd demolish Portsmouth. They didn't win, they didn't draw, they didn't lose by one goal but TWO whole goals! Which goes to show their win at Old Trafford last week was a fluke! Kelong! As usual, after a loss, Arsenal somewhat lost their confidence and drew with the Saints 2-2. But at least they didn't lose by two goals! Ne-ne-ni-poo-poo. I am thankful I had the squirts today (from too much damned papaya yesterday). So I mentioned that to Mr. NS and he said better not eat jap food. We went to watch "The Grudge" and ate McD's instead. Checked out the guys at the Subaru Impreza WRX challenge and went to Indochine at Wisma for a beer. So, anyway, the whole more than platonic friendship issue has been hanging in the air for quite awhile. I know he does like me more than a friend, but as usual, i pretend i'm in denial. He asked me what kinda guy I'm into and I replied "Pai kia" (bad boys) and he asked casually "Lucky for me I didn't chase after you yes?" I said, somewhat over enthusiastically "Yeah, you're definitely not my type". Silence. More silence. Pregnant silence. Awkward silence. I had planned to tell Mr. Not Shy the truth, saying I cannot afford to pay for an expensive dinner. I wake up to find two missed calls and an SMS on my phone saying to call back ASAP. I call him and he says excitedly that he's made a reservation for two at that place tonight. I start saying "Listen, there's something I wanna tell you..." when he says excitedly that it was really hard to get a reservation cos the place was fully booked so we're very lucky. I kept quiet. I feel angry now. Sometimes, it's so easy to stand up for myself but other times, I find it difficult. I really must find a balance. To be honest, Mr. Fansy is slowly wearing my resistance down. He calls regularly, and even faxed me a quotation (which I requested for) with a handwritten note saying "Don't forget to call me this weekend". That is because I refused to give him my handphone number. He's a nice funny guy but I know nothing more than friendship can happen and I don't want to lead him on. I remember when I was in Primary 2 and my dad promised me a Gameboy if I did well for my exams. I topped the class that year and proudly brought my report book home to show my dad. We went to the Gameboy shop and tested it out, and once he heard the price (think it was $200 at that time), he gave me all sorts of reasons why it wasn't worth the money and took me home. I was heartbroken. If you detect jealousy in this post, you're dead wrong. I'm very happy that my brothers are not in deprived in the same way I was. It's just that he already has a Gameboy and when he requests for another one, my parents indulge. I told my mum I'll be more than willing to pay for the Gameboy Advanced should he be a kind soul and donate his old one to the needy. At this point, I doubt my brothers know how lucky they are and how many less fortunate kids there are outside. |W|P|109903557283592232|W|P|Frustrated|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/29/2004 05:31:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Jayaxe|W|P|For once, I absolutely agree that it's not a case of jealousy but because of the newer generations.

"A series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep." If dreams are anything to go by, then I know who the man I'm going to marry is. But, it's someone I already know! Shit. I've been having recurring dreams of the same person in the same location but different things happen each time. Are dreams predictions of the future or just you subconciously yearning for something to happen? Or are they just random dreams? Whilst I'm concious, I do not think about this person at all. When I'm sleeping, the dreams focus on him, and they're vivid and odd. Went to Ice Cold Beer with Gav last night for dinner and er... ice cold beer. It's amazing that a year ago, I couldn't even finish a bottle of beer, but now I drink it a pint at a time. We had the most interesting conversation yesterday. I was surprised because we used to have mild conversations ranging from how the week went to work. He's changed since I first knew him. And for the first time, I wondered why I never reciprocated his interest in me last year. And I realised, he's Libran. So no chemistry. Aiya. Why do I meet so many Libran man? I walk in the toilet with a lady just two steps ahead of me. There's only one cubicle and she goes in while I wait at the sink looking at myself in the mirror. I was puzzled when she flushed three times in a short span of one minute and so, I strained my ears and heard a plop plop sound during the flushes. Awww. Shy lady tries to hide the fact she's pooping by flushing while poop plops into the bowl. Quite obvious don't you think? Boss (who's in Oz) called and informed me one of our big customers is coming over to visit me. No problemo, I replied chirpily. Before he hangs up, he adds "Hey, be careful, he's a gigolo". So, tell me. How many of you leave tips to the waiter or waitress who serves you? Don't lie to me. I know you probably don't. Most of the time in restaurants or pubs here, we are charged a compulsory 10% service charge. On top of GST and some unknown 1% charge, we have to fork out an extra 16% for a meal. Even if the service is lousy and the waitress spits in your food, you cannot request for the service charge to be waivered. Cannot. Most of the time, I leave a $2 bill or add $2 to the bill if I'm paying by card. I think that's generous because I have seen many Singaporeans pick up all the 5 and 10 cents coins and pocket them. I bother to tip a little at least. In case most of you don't know, here, the tips you leave do not go to the waitress who served you per se. Instead, they go into a tips box, and the money is then equally split among all the waiters and waitresses. How do I know this? I was a waitress here before. I've worked very hard for my money. So, if you ask me to fork over $115 for an $86 meal (not including the extra 16% charge), you've gotta be frigging kidding me! It doesn't work that way here missy.|W|P|109876530747384221|W|P|Are You A Tipper?|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/26/2004 01:11:00 PM|W|P|Blogger CatWoman|W|P|OMG I'm so insomniac from sleeping all of yesterday and here I am FOFLOL from your Mr Rude code blog. You guys R hilarious! I think it depends on the tax bracket you fall into on how much is taken out here. With me, it's only like 20 something. I still havent figured exactly if it's 22 or 24. Yea, the lazy asses in this country keep popping out bastards that we the tax payers have to support. There is no stopping it. In the south and most metro cities it's the Mexican and Puerto Rican community that are the biggest offenders of this. As long as they pop out kids, the kid is cared for. They are given vouchers and credits for free medical, food and often cheap housing. It's sickening. They do this by never marrying their kid'd dad, so they fein the un wed single mom sob story and reap the benefits of the gainfully employed working dad. There are so many other scams they play, I could write a book. They end up with enough savings for a house after 10 or 15 years on welfare. It's sickening. In answer to your original question, only the very very wealthy would get taxed 30 or 35%. For most people it's under 30% Any additional moneys taken out may be health care insurance deductions, retirement funds, and there are miscellaneous funds that are optional and not mandatory. Even retirement funds is optional.10/26/2004 01:17:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|Here, poor people like myself get taxed 4~5%. But no dole, no free medical care, nothing. Which works out fine for me. 20 something percent of your pay is still pretty high!

We have something here called CPF where we contribute 5~20% of our pay but we get it back when we retire or we can use it to help with house payments.

The poor people here get cheap housing provided they can prove they are worthy recipients. It ain't easy to fool the government here.10/26/2004 02:05:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Jayaxe|W|P|Ooh I realized you just added me. Kamsa Hammida! (Korean way of saying thank you.)

But if there was a bunch of coins, I tend to pocket it too, cos I feel it's an insult to give them $1.17 for example..10/26/2004 02:33:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|Woof>> Yeah the bosses pocket the dough. So people cannot blame us for not tipping. If they didn't have the service charge, for sure I'd tip more.10/26/2004 03:05:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Unknown|W|P|I think the dynamics suck for the wait-staff either way.. If I had a nice meal with 4 friends and spent $300, even if there was no 10% service charge, it'd be painful for me to write a tip for $30 to $50..10/26/2004 03:07:00 PM|W|P|Blogger littlecartnoodles|W|P|I don't think it's the responsibility of the diner to ensure that the wait staff are adequately compensated. It's the restauranteur's job. He should build the payroll cost into the food and drink prices.

If tipping means I am paying for the waiter's service, then does that mean I can choose my waiter ?

"Hello, can I have a table for two at 7pm, with ... is Cindy that blonde from LA ? Yeah, plus Cindy. Don't gimme that college dork again."

I think the tipping culture in the US is ridiculous. Why do cab drivers even have to be tipped ? I had dinner in Miami a few years ago and the bill said, "For your convenience, we have added a 19% gratuity to your bill."

Wah, so considerate ...10/26/2004 03:11:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|Siao... imagine if the meal came up to $200. The tip would be $40. The waitress would be grossly overpaid. Why should the tip be proportional to the cost of the food? It should be proportional to the time you took to finish the meal and had her running around like a headless chicken fetching you water, cleaner cutlery and what not.

What's it like in HK? Do you hafta tip?10/26/2004 03:17:00 PM|W|P|Blogger PP|W|P|Income tax in America is actually quite tame compared to European countries. Here in Australia, most people pay around 35% (it's progressive, so it depends) There is also an extra 1.5% Medicare Levy, so it adds up to be ALOT of tax. I say I deserve to go on the dole for a few years! -_-10/26/2004 05:02:00 PM|W|P|Blogger littlecartnoodles|W|P|Restaurants in HK also add a 10% service charge like in Singapore, so HKers seldom tip as well. If a place does not charge it, people would normally leave the coins behind when the waiter returns with the change.

BTW, does everyone know that if you pay with a credit card and wish to leave a tip, you should put cash instead of filling in the "TIPS" amount on the charge slip ? I understand that most bosses don't pass that on to their staff.10/26/2004 05:05:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|Some restaurants don't even bother to take into account my tip from the credit card bill. In Asia, we have such a thing as a service charge on the bill which is 10% of the total amount, GST which is 5% of the total amount and CSS which is 1% of the total amount.

Hence, our bill comes up to 16% more. With the service charge, the tip is optional.

Please find out more about our culture before you start flaming us. It does not work the same way in Singapore and in the US.

I spent a month in Indonesia and tipped 5% of the bill and that's because I'm generous. That much is not even expected. Even bell hops wont complain when you give them 30 or 50 cents! Every place is different. Even if Singapore is like the U.S. in many ways. In many ways IT IS NOT. So shut your pie hole until you really live like the Romans and your head OUT of the clouds! It's difficult for me to focus so early in the morning, much less gather my thoughts in Hokkien. I was grumpy. Yesterday night, I was talking to a mutual friend of ours and apparently, Mr. Rude slit his wrists a few months back because the girl he was going out with for two whole very long days ditched him. I refuse to associate myself with him any longer. One wrong move from me and he might do something drastic again. The guilt would be unbearable. I don't have the time nor the inclination to deal with such an unstable person. Last night, someone I used to date awhile back called me. He's in a happy long term relationship now. We talked about his girlfriend and his plans for the future. I was happy for him. Until he started talking about how I've grown in the past few years. I replied that working life has forced me to grow up. He was silent. And then I realised the fucker was talking about my chest! He then launched into how sexy it is bla bla bla... (I stopped him midway). How utterly inappropriate and I was indignant to say the very least! Morons! Why do I deal with morons everyday?! K is picking me up from work and sending me home today. The contestants got to sing a song from their favourite idols. The songs are below with my rating out of 5 *.

Sylvester - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing - Aerosmith ****
Olinda - When A Man Loves A Woman - Bette Midler ***
Maia - I forgot the name of the song - Shakira *
Taufik - Yeah - Usher *
Daphne - I Turn To You - Christina Aguilera *
Leandra - Dreaming of You - Selina*
Christopher - Angels - Robbie Williams **

Maia was voted out.10/23/2004 02:48:00 PM|W|P|Blogger cour marly|W|P|Thanks, luv. How did Sylvester end up on bubble then? They have used their native driving license for more than a year and under Singapore law, you have to convert it to a Singaporean one after that. Boss’ wife got into an accident yesterday. They find out they cannot claim insurance because they don’t have proper driving licenses. The cost of repairing the car is $6,000. The cost of repairing the other party’s car is still unknown. I hate GV in Plaza Sing. The movie is supposed to begin at 7:05pm. Begin it did not. After half an hour of repeated commercials and sporadic movie trailers only did the bloody movie begin at 7:35pm. I'm never going there again and I am going to write a complaint letter.

Don't get me wrong, I'm far from being a rich girl with blue blood running through my veins. Their definition of "class" is equal or higher education than myself and someone who comes from a good family (no gangster families or druggies). I dismissed their theory and told myself it doesn't matter what education someone has as long as he's good to me. A couple of years back, I dated a guy who was really sweet. He couldn't speak English and we communicated in Hokkien. Imagine how difficult it is to SMS in Hokkien. "lu jia par buay?" Anyhow, it fizzled out really quickly because we never talked about anything other than the latest clubs and gossip about our mutual friends and I got bored. Besides, he went to jail adn I got back with my ex. I've dated a few who never made it far academically and they never lasted long. I got bored easily. I realise that I respect those who persevered to get that piece of paper. To me, it means more than a piece of paper. It's a symbol of his intelligence, determination and desire to succeed in life. *** So, does it matter whether the person you're dating is less educated than you? I once asked my ex boyfriend whether he would date a coffeeshop server who couldn't speak English and with a dirty look, he replied without hesitance that he would. I was ashamed of myself for "looking down" on less educated people, but I've grown to realise it's not a matter of education. Rather, it's the fact that I need to be with someone who I can respect for his intellectual ability and ***. It appears that you've either dismissed the advice or completely missed the point--they want you to marry someone with a better education than you have, while you want to marry someone who makes more money than you do.

Seemingly, you are entering into romantic entanglements with an eye toward potential financial gain.

Having been reading up on investing, the best way for you to get rich is by buying property. Many books tell you how to get rich, but they never tell how to get the capital to buy that piece of property. I reckon you have to save and invest, but how long would it take me to make $100,000? Disco night was a total disaster. Chrissy-poo sang "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing", and our dear judge Dick Lee exclaimed "You make me feel like vomitting". I echo his sentiments completely. Being a loyal fan of Sly, I refuse to criticise him. Sidetrack - Dick Lee is hot! Does anyone know the lowdown on him? Is he married or gay? OC is getting very exciting. Ryan is pretty hot, but I think Seth is more my type of guy. Ryan seems too detached. K's supposed to bring me out for lunch, but I've too much work. Plus, I'm got my ears locked to Power 98 fm, trying to win the $9,800. Help! The clues are so cryptic and I heard the last time they had this game, the location was Mount Thirsty. Is there really such a place? Edit: The Bug just asked me if I'll be in KL next week on business cos he'll be and asks to meet up if I am. Is that a frigging booty call?! I mean, why can't we meet up in Singapore? I bet he has a girlfriend, that's why and wants to have fun on the trip. Bastard! Mr. Fansy calls and hassles me again. I wonder why some Singaporeans speak the way they do. During Singapore Idol, I'm forever cringing at Gurmit's pronounciation. Three is pronounced as tree, gentlemen is pronounced as gentermen, father as fudder etc. etc.

Sometimes people are surprised that I'm Malaysian because, and I quote, I sure as hell don't speak like one. I ask them what I sound like then and they say Singaporean. I cringe even more. Firstly, they just insulted my country people and secondly, they insulted me personally. Sorry lah, but my pronounciation (pronounced as pro-nun-see-ay-shen) is better than that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always pronounce "salmon" with a silent L - sammon. Sal-mon just sounds so wrong.

I was listening to the webcast of Power98 a few days ago and cringed when the DJ pronounced "petrol" like "patrol" and "Jose" as "Joes" rather than "Ho-zay".10/14/2004 07:22:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|The DJs are already quite good so you can imagine the rest of them.

Now I have to jump in here. For the record England and American English are two separate entities.
We spell things differently. Why, because we can. We kicked their asses over 200 years ago. We also pronounce things differently. Names of places that are also cities or places in Britain (or anywhere else for that matter).
For example offence/offense, enquiry/inquiry, civilisation/civilization, criticise/criticize, colour/color, programme/program, flavour/flavor, yoghourt/yogurt, knickers/panties, frocks/dresses, trousers/pants, bonnet/hood (of the car), boot/trunk, petrol/gas, ballocks/aw shit!, blimey/oh my gosh, piss off/get lost!, wanker/jag off, arse/asshole, subway/pedway and the list goes on and on. We pronounce Yorkshire and Cheshire with a long I, they pronounce it shu.
(Personally, if I'm there, I pronounce it their way)
We post Exit signs, they post WAY OUT signs. They pronounce buffet buffy (buffee) Usually in America, we pronounce foreign words the proper foreign words way. Like Mah Jong or Au Pair, or croissant etc. There are many country folk or simple folk from small towns, or folks with little education who don't just don't know better. I speak mostly on behalf of people from cities.
Now for that whole black thing. I'm no expert, but I think that speaking in ebonics or having a different dialect is purely choice. My best friend is African American and talks exactly like me. So does her sister. Her brothers do not. It is a fitting in thing, I believe. Another guy friend of mine, talks like me, to me and my friends who are white and Chinese, but when he's with his family he sounds a little different. And when he's with the friends he grew up with he talks in ebonics.
Go figure!10/15/2004 09:41:00 AM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|MsMeow, Malaysia and Singapore follow British English. So we use colour instead of color etc.

Ebonics is really hard to understand!10/15/2004 09:50:00 AM|W|P|Blogger CatWoman|W|P|Well it was evident after checking out all the blogs of people from Malaysia and Spore.
Ebonics is hard for most people who don't hear it day in and day out. I work in hospital and got use to it.
For me, I spent so much time in the U.K. and Australia, I don't know what is right anymore. I spell things British all the time and don't remember which is English and which is American anymore. I get confused all the time. LOL
Most black folk in Chicago have a different accent from most whites and Asians born here. Very few speak in ebonics.
There is another dialect which is also bad. The latins speak it. There's no name except we call it "talkin' ghetto". But it's a bad bastardization of English. It's Spanglish and slang. It's so low class and just down right gross. Large hispanic community here in northern Illinois.10/15/2004 10:03:00 AM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|So Ebonics is nothing like we hear on TV? LIke in Bad Boys?10/15/2004 10:28:00 AM|W|P|Blogger CatWoman|W|P|Haven't seen Bad Boys. But Will Smith does NOT talk in ebonics. You'll usually hear it on t.v. shows mostly. Not USUALLY on film. There was SOME in 8 mile. But I usually don't watch ALL BLACK CAST Movies. I'll see Nutty Professor and Dr Dolittle kinda stuff, but I don't dig black dramas. (I'm not a big fan of white dramas. LOL)
Ebonics is Ahiit instead of all right. Or SUP, itstead of what's up? Other black folk say allright with a different accent, but at least are saying "all right."
(Ciao, some kid talked me into doing his homework, & so far I've taken a dozen breaks. LOL It's a book report. Until the w-end Meow)10/15/2004 11:02:00 AM|W|P|Blogger PP|W|P|suup ma nigga?10/15/2004 06:50:00 PM|W|P|Blogger littlecartnoodles|W|P|You can learn ebonics by watching all-black films like "Barbershop". (Preferably in DVD format and with the sub-titles on)

E.g. if you screw up you say, "My bad."

"Boo" is a term of endearment. E.g. "I miss you, boo."

And dudes don't say "man" anymore. They say "dawg", like "Yo ! How's it goin', dawg ?"

Later !10/16/2004 11:01:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|Lexie, I think it's more like "chew-ren". By the way, as was announced in this comment page, it's actually spelt pronunciation.10/14/2004 12:01:00 AM|W|P|FF|W|P|

We headed to China Jump cos we were too lazy to haul our asses to Mohd Sultan. In my five years in Singapore, I have never step foot in that place and boy was I impressed. I love the ambience there, and the decor where the tables are on a platform was very unique. Music was good too, they played oldies and none of that "ow ow sar lak kao" kinda shit.

We were eyeing one cute Chinese waiter. He was charming and when I asked for vodka lime, he did the "throw the bottle of vodka up in the air, spin in air two times and catch it behind his back" routine. C swore that was a sign he was trying to impress me. I wasn't impressed when he did the same routine everytime someone ordered a drink. Hrmph.

Earlier, I had taken a train after work to City Hall and I hate hate hate the after work crowd. I was surprised to notice the fat horizontally challenged people are the ones who jostle for seats the fastest. They push and bang everyone out of their way with their asses till the way is clear and plonk themselves down on 1 1/2 seats. Blardy hell.

People have called me “dao” (arrogant) and a snob many many times. I’m not ashamed of the fact that I never did like talking to strangers. Mummy always said “Never talk to strangers”. So when I came out to work in sales, you could say, I got intensive crash course training in being friendly. And I’ve been trained well. I now say hi to people in the lift in my building, I’m on good terms with the security guards downstairs, the cafeteria people upstairs and the coffeeman downstairs. And before, I had a tight knit group of friends back in Penang. Now, I have many acquaintances and quite a few friends (not good friends) and a very select few good friends. The question is, do I need more friends? Mr. Fansy called again, and it crossed my mind that there’s no harm in making more new friends. But I shudder at the thought him wanting to be more than friends. That’s the risk in making new guy friends. They always pretend to want to be your friend. Day after day, you go out, watch a movie and do friendly things and one day BAM! They confess they actually liked you more than a friend all this while. Then I get angry because I feel betrayed when I find out our friendship was under false pretences. I then never speak to the person again, cos I cannot be bothered to get over the awkwardness. This means, I’m back to square one. I guess I just answered my own question. No need new friends. If you don't go to the same places regularly (school, workplace, church, gym ...) it's hard to keep in touch on a regular basis. Some of my closest JC and uni guy friends are now just on a "Hi, bye" basis with me because they have drifted away because of marriage.

My lonesome self chilled out at the library and watched "Wimbledon". Despite what the critics said, I loved the movie. I have this thing for British comedies, hot tennis players in tight white shorts and Kirsten Dunst, so it suited me perfectly. I didn't like watching it alone though cos the cinema was kinda cold and I missed having someone radiating his body heat beside me. One good thing was I got to eat a box of nachos and cheese all to myself! Rarely do I ever do that, and as I found out today, it was for good reason too because I felt sick after. Instead of a relaxing day though, I was awash with emotions at the shopping mall. I lived in that area for a good two years with one of my exes. For the first time since we broke up, I walked through the area and felt melancholic for no apparent reason. Even I was surprised at the feelings generated in me. I realised one thing about myself today. I'm very highly capable of pushing things away from my mind - I like to deliberately "forget" unpleasant things, but sometimes, I cannot control my feelings and they come resurfacing at an unexpected (and very much unwanted) speed. I don't like this lack of control and once again, I'm going to deliberately "forget" everything I felt today. Gone. Wiped out. Nada. MIB style. My gf J and I had planned to go ice skating tomorrow night. Then, Kitten calls and says he has free tickets to watch the preview of Manchurian Candidate tomorrow. Dilemma, dilemma, dilemma. I called J and sounded her out, whether we're confirmed for ice skating tomorrow and because of her enthusiasm, I couldn't bring myself to cancel on her. So, no free movie for me. Everytime I see a cute guy walk by, I don't really look at what he's wearing or what brand briefcase he's carrying or what handphone he's using. Obviously, first impressions count, otherwise I wouldn't have looked at him in the first place. So what do I do after my heart does a backflip? I sniff him. Yes, you heard me right. I try to take a whiff of the fella as he walks by. Guys who take the effort to put on cologne get two thumbs up. Cute guys who put on Davidoff's Coolwater gets two thumbs plus my left big toe up. I love that scent. I shop for perfume everytime my bottle runs out. The last time I bought a perfume was a little over 3 months ago. The sales person who sold it to me got really impatient because I had to sniff 20 over perfumes before I found the perfect one - Hugo Boss Deep Red. Try sniffing it the next time you go to a perfume shop and tell me what you think. |W|P|109747098556510670|W|P|Do You Smell Good?|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/11/2004 01:35:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Unknown|W|P|Go out! evie10/11/2004 11:36:00 AM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|Robert T. Kiyosaki teaches how to be millionaires. Most of us will be caught in the ratrace - basically, getting married, buying a house and owing money to the bank for most of our lives. We think our liabilities are our assets, eg. a car.

The book is called Rich Dad, Poor Dad because he was brought up by two fathers - one rich and one poor. The poor had socialist ideas (steal from the rich, ie. make them pay more taxes), the rich had capitalist ideas (own property and make them earn income for you).

Getting a good education, getting a good job with good prospects is no longer enough. Must learn to have financial intelligence.

Read it!10/11/2004 12:00:00 PM|W|P|Blogger PP|W|P|I purchased and read Rich Dad Poor Dad plus three of his subsequent books. Also spent loads of money on his Cashflow games and went to his seminar. Don't know anything about the games or talks, but personally I will never pay money to listen to any gurus.

Some of what he says make sense, like practising delayed gratifition, mimimising debts, be less extravagant, not sweating the pennies (the "rich" doc who squeezes the car dealers) and getting income from non-salary sources like dividends and rental. What our mums and dads tell us if we only listen, but you know how people are, believing that it is not sound advice unless you have to pay real money to hear it.

Soon, I will be a sexy toned feline. My legs feel like jelly but it feels good. I've tried jogging, lifting weights and briskwalking, but no chemistry you know? Exercise is like love - must have chemistry. Swimming and I have strong chemistry. After swimming, I just put on my shorts and T-shirt and walked over to the coffeeshop to buy dinner. I saw a group of my ex-boyfriend's friends and said hello. When I got home, much to my horror and mortification, I found out there was a big wet patch in the front of my shorts! They must have had a good laugh at Ms. GirlWhoWetHerKnickers and I feel so shame shame now. Brought rascal to the vet today to treat a slight rash. Another $70 gone. Sigh. Edit: Sometimes, we love a person so damned much. That person has many faults and doesn't deserve our love. But, we love that person all the same. We find all sorts of excuses for all his/her faults, we believe what we want to believe. But one day, realisation dawns and we realise we're better off without that person. The cliche "There's someone better out there" becomes true. Our tears and constant heartache are no longer worth it. A relationship shouldn't be about clinging on to what you had years ago, it's about what you have now. It's hard cos we may have been together for years and years. Finally, we see the light - it's time to let go. Not without tears and an ache in our hearts, but we say goodbye and move on nonetheless. A relationship is meaningless if you think you can do better. Loving someone means being grateful for being with that person because you know he/she's the most perfect one for you. You know who you are and you know you did the right thing. |W|P|109741769214617836|W|P|I Heart Swimming|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/10/2004 11:25:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Anna|W|P|Thank you for your comments on relationships.. People do that all the time, throw on a t & shorts over bathing suit. NOBODY WHO PISSES HIM/HER SELF WOULD GO SAY HI TO FRIENDS. Plus you didn't reek of piss, that reeks big time. So I'm sure they didn't think that. Consider buying a two piece bathing suit that ties on the sides. Back in the 70's we would just snatch those wet bottoms off after our shorts were up & put the knicks on, once we got to the neighbourhood diner. Anyway, try to finish two fast laps every 10 laps and you can build up your stamina faster to swim longer. MsMeow>> Chinese food is quite unhealthy. Too many courses, you eat till you're full and more! Ugh.

Anon>> I cannot really say because I don't know the whole story. But bottom line is, if everyone says you can do better, there must be a good reason for it, most probably a reason you cannot see because you are too blinded by love. Trust your loved ones' judgements. They only want the best for you. Whether to call him or not - it depends whether he's worth it or not.

MsMeow recommends all women to read "He's Just Not That Into You" by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo and published by Simon & Schuster. It's a no excuses, no frills, open and honest glimpse into the male and female mind, soul and personality.

Woof>> After having spent so much at the vet's yesterday, I'm hesitant to bring her out, what with having to call for a cab. But perhaps I will, weather is wonderful today. Am just scared it'll rain at the dog run, no shelter there.

Mandrake>> A hundred laps? I don't think I can make it that far. Maybe 50. Swimming yesterday wasn't so boring, cos I was with my housemate and he made it exciting cos I kept beating him each lap, and he was very tired but I kept going on to see how far he could go. You know, male pride and all, refusing to admit defeat. Heehee.

Why oh why did I have to read those stupid Mills & Boons books which ingrain into their readers that love is beatiful and being with someone means nothing in the absence of love? I'm going to write a complaint letter to the Mills & Boons' publishers. Basket. Edit: Sometimes I just feel like being alone the whole weekend. I really do enjoy solitude. They're usually by whiner welfare patients who rant about having had to wait 3 hours to see the doctor. Everytime I've complained, be it rude bus or cab drivers, or screwed up ticketing at SIA, I've always received a polite and courteous response and immediate action. This was the feedback I received from SBS regarding a bloody rude bus driver who gave me a $1.00 ticket and refused to give me a $1.20 ticket after I put $1.20 worth of coins in. Dear FF, 1 We refer to your feedback of 28 September 04. 2 We regret to learn of the unpleasant encounter you had experienced with our bus captain of Service 1**, SBS 9***H on 28 September 04. The Route Manager in charge of the service Manager had reviewed your feedback with the bus captain concerned and appropriate action had been meted out on him. He was counselled and reminded to be alert and vigilant when keying in the amount of cash paid by passengers for the bus fare. He was also counselled for being rude and not providing good customer service. He was reminded to be mindful of his service attitude at all times, and not to pass rude remarks at customers. The importance of good customer service would also be reiterated to him during the counseling session. 3 As a major public bus operator and a service-oriented company, we do not condone rude behaviour from our staff. Those found at fault will be disciplined promptly. 4 Thank you for highlighting the matter to us. Yours sincerely, Ms. ABCDEFG Corporate Communications SBS Transit Ltd I am not petty, but it irks me when I'm not given what I fucking paid for. And rude service is a no-no especially at 8am, when I'm a grouchy bitch. If it was an old man, I'd have let it slide but it wasn't. Since I read his interview in 8 days where he claimed that his BMW was an Asian made car, I have thought very very lowly of him and his IQ. In this morning's interview with Jeassea Thyidor (person who got voted out last week from Singapore Idol), he asked her the year she was born and she replied "1980". Then he goes on to play some song which was famous in 1971 and said "Hey Jeassea, you were 9 years old then!". Carrie kept repeating that Jeassea wasn't born yet, but he didn't get it. GOD! Had German sausages and a pint of Hoegaarden with Kitten at Baden Baden last night. Bruddy hell, his sausage was the size of a phallus and I had ordered "Cheese filled beef sausages" which makes you think of big, juicy sausages with cheese oozing out when you cut it, yes? Instead, I got 5 smaller-than-finger sized sausages and I had to peer closely to see if there was cheese. Next time, I'm ordering the penis dammit. My sister started reading it on Saturday and finished the book on Sunday. It's a must read. Faster go buy! I went up to the alfresco section of the cafeteria upstairs for a breath of fresh air. The chefs and serving guys who work there shout "Apple face, apple face!" everytime they see me. Apparently, I look like an apple. I'm not sure if I should be pleased on insulted. After all, apples are red and round. Last night, PP and I started planning our getaway to Bali in December. I had initially planned to go to New York in April, but someone told me he spent close to 10K on his last trip to NYC. So I guess that plan is on the shelf for awhile (Sorry Jem). So Bali, here I come! Does anyone know where I can have permanent server space for free? I've exceeded my bandwidth for most of my Malaysian Idol vids. 7 days or 25 downloads, whichever comes first. That's ridiculous. Your friend doesn't know how to look for a budget. Even in Bali, I saved a lot of cash by calling and booking hotels myself. I stayed at Bakung Beach Cottage in Bali. It's a two star hotel, but I didn't care. It was clean and had a flush toilet, shower and mini fridge. Only problem was the fact that I got eaten alive by mosquitos cause it was cabin style.

Back to the topic, I admit I have a secret blog where I blah when I feel really deeply about something. I refuse to blah in this blog, probably because I don't want to reveal too much about myself here. All my posts are password protected so I feel safe that no one will ever get their grubby hands on my innermost thoughts and desires. I think. What am I trying to say? I finally watched Dodgeball tonight and it wasn't very good. Ben Stiller was disappointing cos I compare all his movies to Zoolander, which was a riot! I still say "Gimme blue steel! Gimme magnum!" everytime I take a photo of someone. Mr. Fan Supplier called again and I swear, he asked me for my number at least 20 times during the half hour phone call. Went to the Italian restaurant, Amici, at Holland V, for lunch. Not too bad. Shopped a bit and came home and chilled out. Went to a friend's place to hang out and watch part of the Chelsea vs. Liverpool match. I took Chelsea to be a goal up 30 mins into the game. Sadly, it remained a goalless draw the first 30 mins. I was clipping the rascal's claws when I clipped too much and blood spurted out. She cried, I nearly cried. I felt so bad having hurt her cos she trusted me to cut her claws safely and didn't even put up a struggle when I took the cutter out. Sigh. I'd probably chop a finger off my kid's hand next time. It was very slapstick but hilariously so, and even funnier than Harold and Kumar. I loved it. Anyway, GJ left for work and I wandered around on my own. I was looking for work clothes and I thought of calling my gf E who is a shopaholic, but I got distracted by I forgot what. Sidetrack - I went to have a peep at LMD's oasis. I'm not sure if it was the right one though. I didn't see a Sharon Stone lookalike, all the girls had long hair. Yes, I am a kaypocurious feline. So sue me. So anyway, after shopping for close to 3 hours, I decided to head back home. I made a stop at Popular and bought a couple of books (odd, cos I seldom buy books). Today was the first time I took an MRT instead of a bus back from Orchard, mainly cos I was lazy to walk to the bus stop. At the Somerset stop, my gf E walks into the same carriage as I. What a frigging coincidence since I had thought about her just a couple of hours earlier! We started catching up immediately and voiced our immense dissatisfaction at the disappearance of our gf J. J just got a new job and new place and had cruelly neglected us of late. At the Tiong Bahru stop, none other than J walked in the same carriage as us! A mere coincidence? I think not. Perhaps fate had to give us a little push in the right direction and to remind us of the importance of our friendships. So we made plans to go ice skating next Tuesday and get off at different stops. The timing was so perfect and it would have been impossible for anyone to have engineered such a well-timed reunion. If I had lingered a second longer at the bookshop, or if I had decided to go to the front of the train like I normally do, I would have missed the both of them completely. What are the frigging odds of the three of us meeting in the train in the very same carriage? Some things just cannot be explained. By the way, I had very good reviews from them about my haircut. Japanese doll was the phrase they used. |W|P|109672433944113036|W|P|The Weirdest Thing Happened Today!|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/02/2004 10:17:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|Claydoll>> Ask that bf of yours to bring you Holland V for a drink with me.

I can safely say they were both the best singers in the competition. Contrastingly however, Jeassea and Bev were the most gorgeous and hideous looking respectively. So, I wonder, what do Singaporeans base their votes on? Definitely not looks nor talent. The brilliant answer I came up with is the ability of the contestant to strongly connect with the audience and to humbly admit to their mediocrity, after which, to suck up to the judges and promise with all their heart to take the judges' criticisms constructively to improve their performances. My vote went to Sylvester again. Sidetracking, someone asked me last night whether I would date a younger guy and despite my emphatic no, I sheepishly detract that I would date Sylvester. Aku cinta kepadamu Aku rindu dipelukmu Namunku keliru telah membunuh Cinta dia dan dirimu I'm sick of smoking. Just quit right? But it's not easy. I've been smoking for five years and despite you thinking it's mind over matter, think again. My body craves nicotine and there are consequences when my body is nicotine deprived. Cigarettes are no longer a want to me, but a need. The first step is to want to quit. The 3 main health benefits of quitting are: 1) longer life 2) Reduced risk of lung cancer, emphysema and bronchitis 3) Reduced risk of coronary heart disease Tomorrow, I will go cold turkey. Cold turkey is an inefficient method of quitting because most cold turkey quitters go back to the habit within three months. I know I can do it. All I have to do is eliminate all activities connected to smoking such as going to clubs and pubs, walking out for lunch, tea break during work, etc. I will gain weight too, but I will exercise. Sigh. Don't ever start the habit. It's difficult to break, but easy to break your wallet. I was shocked when I calculated I spend about $2K on cigs every year. Wish me luck. WTF? Stop smoking!! If you worked in hospital for 25 years you wouldn't smoke ever.
Have you tried that gum?
There is an herbal alternative which I will investigate. They sell it at a vitamin store here called GNC and it's new. It's some kind of suppliment that makes cigarettes taste and smell foul. It'll make you sick thinking about having cigarette taste in your mouth and that's how it makes people stop. I know a couple people from the corner diner who tried it and quit.
