10/31/2004 08:27:00 PM|W|P|FF|W|P|My fingers are itching to write another complaint letter, this time to the McDonald's at Shaw because they:
- ran outta chocolate fudge for our sundaes
- Asked us to accept strawberry sundaes instead. We asked them to cancel the sundaes and they proceeded to
- scrape the fudge off the bottom of the container with a spoon
- gave us messy, uncovered sundaes with a spoon stuck in each sundae
- service took 15 mins instead of under 60 seconds as promised
- no free cone for lousy service
- no apologies
- they forgot my lemonade and had to be reminded
- gave serviettes only when we asked
- because of the messy sundaes, i had to finish that first and was too full to eat my burger
Singapore is so small, yet so big sometimes. Why is it that I keep bumping into the same people everywhere I go? I met Vox at East Coast a couple of months back and today, I bumped into him at Taka, where a huge crowd was gathered around the Subaru Challenge. There are many people I'd love to bump into but never do. How come?! Are our stars misaligned or something?
I, the domesticated feline, will head off to do my laundry now. Otherwise I'll have nothing to wear next week to work. Yes, I have about 5 different sets of shirts, pants and skirts which I recycle week in week out. I don't buy many working outfits because there's nobody to impress in my office. Another thing I don't understand is : when you order a meal, they give you like 3-4 packs of sauce but one miserable serviette. Sometimes I feel like asking, "Paper very expensive issit ? Can I trade sauce for more paper ?"

After he parked and we got out of the car, he said "Oh shit, I don't have cash and need to go to an ATM". I rolled my eyes because this is the same tactic he uses everytime we go out. In the end, I paid for lunch (pork ribs noodles+3 drinks+chicken rice+2 half boiled eggs and toast). 1 drink and the chicken rice was mine. The rest was his. He casually mentions his parents are out of town and invites me to his place to watch DVDs. TRRRRRIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGGG(Booty call alert siren). I declined politely.
It's been six months since we broke up and I was surprised to find I am still very fond of him. As a friend. He's an easy going person and can be nice at times, if not a little stingy frugal.
I'm not a fan of cartoons. In fact, the last animation I watched was "Toy Story", which was not by choice but circumstance as my brothers played the DVD on repeat everyday for 1 year or so. But the trailer of Shark Tale was just too funny! Will be watching it tonight.

Man U should be ashamed of themselves. Having beaten such a great team like Arsenal last week, it was only natural that they'd demolish Portsmouth. They didn't win, they didn't draw, they didn't lose by one goal but TWO whole goals! Which goes to show their win at Old Trafford last week was a fluke! Kelong! As usual, after a loss, Arsenal somewhat lost their confidence and drew with the Saints 2-2. But at least they didn't lose by two goals! Ne-ne-ni-poo-poo.
I am thankful I had the squirts today (from too much damned papaya yesterday). So I mentioned that to Mr. NS and he said better not eat jap food. We went to watch "The Grudge" and ate McD's instead. Checked out the guys at the Subaru Impreza WRX challenge and went to Indochine at Wisma for a beer.
So, anyway, the whole more than platonic friendship issue has been hanging in the air for quite awhile. I know he does like me more than a friend, but as usual, i pretend i'm in denial. He asked me what kinda guy I'm into and I replied "Pai kia" (bad boys) and he asked casually "Lucky for me I didn't chase after you yes?" I said, somewhat over enthusiastically "Yeah, you're definitely not my type". Silence. More silence. Pregnant silence. Awkward silence. In Asia, seldom do you see anyone trick or treating. If you do happen to see a lil ghost asking you for candy tonight, you'd better turn around and run as fast as your lil legs can carry you cos chances are, it ain't a lil girl in a costume.
I had planned to tell Mr. Not Shy the truth, saying I cannot afford to pay for an expensive dinner. I wake up to find two missed calls and an SMS on my phone saying to call back ASAP. I call him and he says excitedly that he's made a reservation for two at that place tonight. I start saying "Listen, there's something I wanna tell you..." when he says excitedly that it was really hard to get a reservation cos the place was fully booked so we're very lucky. I kept quiet. I feel angry now. Sometimes, it's so easy to stand up for myself but other times, I find it difficult. I really must find a balance.
To be honest, Mr. Fansy is slowly wearing my resistance down. He calls regularly, and even faxed me a quotation (which I requested for) with a handwritten note saying "Don't forget to call me this weekend". That is because I refused to give him my handphone number. He's a nice funny guy but I know nothing more than friendship can happen and I don't want to lead him on. I know by asking me out, he's requesting for more than friendship and I'm too tired to go through all the motions of rejecting someone.

.hung10/29/2004 03:30:00 PM|W|P|FF|W|P|To be quite frank, I'm quite frustrated that my mother has summoned me to shop for my baby bro's Gameboy Advanced for the following reasons:
1) He has a Gameboy
2) He has a PS2 with hundreds of games
Gone are the days where children are taught the value of money and to be frugal. I remember when I was in Primary 2 and my dad promised me a Gameboy if I did well for my exams. I topped the class that year and proudly brought my report book home to show my dad. We went to the Gameboy shop and tested it out, and once he heard the price (think it was $200 at that time), he gave me all sorts of reasons why it wasn't worth the money and took me home. I was heartbroken.
If you detect jealousy in this post, you're dead wrong. I'm very happy that my brothers are not in deprived in the same way I was. It's just that he already has a Gameboy and when he requests for another one, my parents indulge. I told my mum I'll be more than willing to pay for the Gameboy Advanced should he be a kind soul and donate his old one to the needy. At this point, I doubt my brothers know how lucky they are and how many less fortunate kids there are outside. |W|P|109903557283592232|W|P|Frustrated|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/29/2004 05:31:00 PM|W|P| Jayaxe|W|P|For once, I absolutely agree that it's not a case of jealousy but because of the newer generations.

It's not working.
I used to thrive on challenging situations but I think I'm getting old. My body cannot handle the stress anymore. So what did I do? I went downstairs and took a breather.
That didn't work either.

Before you start saying how this silly-girl-who-doesn't-know-the-value-of-money paid $590 for a silly-phone-whose-novelty-will-wear-off-soon, I got it off Yahoo! Auctions at $450. So I won't lose money if I sell it off a couple months later after I get bored of it. Plus, I'm using some of the cash my parents gave me for my birthday.
Remember Mr. Not Shy? Well, I felt really really bad because he did something very nice for my birthday earlier this week. So I said I'll buy him dinner this weekend. Yesterday, he said he found this great buffet at this great hotel. Shit. I hate paying obscene amounts of money for food. Food, which you eat and pass out a few hours later. Why pay so much for something that will disappear down the sewers in less than a day? How can I tell him I'm a cheapskate who refuses to fork out another $100+$2 tip because I don't think it's worth it without sounding like a total cheapskate?
Recently, I bought Mr. Not Shy quite a pricey present. He bought me sushi. When it's my turn, why does it have to be a grand hotel? ARGHHHHHHH. Boohoo.

If dreams are anything to go by, then I know who the man I'm going to marry is. But, it's someone I already know! Shit. I've been having recurring dreams of the same person in the same location but different things happen each time. Are dreams predictions of the future or just you subconciously yearning for something to happen? Or are they just random dreams? Whilst I'm concious, I do not think about this person at all. When I'm sleeping, the dreams focus on him, and they're vivid and odd.
Went to Ice Cold Beer with Gav last night for dinner and er... ice cold beer. It's amazing that a year ago, I couldn't even finish a bottle of beer, but now I drink it a pint at a time. We had the most interesting conversation yesterday. I was surprised because we used to have mild conversations ranging from how the week went to work. He's changed since I first knew him. And for the first time, I wondered why I never reciprocated his interest in me last year. And I realised, he's Libran. So no chemistry. Aiya. Why do I meet so many Libran man? I walk in the toilet with a lady just two steps ahead of me. There's only one cubicle and she goes in while I wait at the sink looking at myself in the mirror. I was puzzled when she flushed three times in a short span of one minute and so, I strained my ears and heard a plop plop sound during the flushes. Awww. Shy lady tries to hide the fact she's pooping by flushing while poop plops into the bowl. Quite obvious don't you think?
Boss (who's in Oz) called and informed me one of our big customers is coming over to visit me. No problemo, I replied chirpily. Before he hangs up, he adds "Hey, be careful, he's a gigolo". So, tell me. How many of you leave tips to the waiter or waitress who serves you? Don't lie to me. I know you probably don't. Most of the time in restaurants or pubs here, we are charged a compulsory 10% service charge. On top of GST and some unknown 1% charge, we have to fork out an extra 16% for a meal. Even if the service is lousy and the waitress spits in your food, you cannot request for the service charge to be waivered. Cannot.
Most of the time, I leave a $2 bill or add $2 to the bill if I'm paying by card. I think that's generous because I have seen many Singaporeans pick up all the 5 and 10 cents coins and pocket them. I bother to tip a little at least.
In case most of you don't know, here, the tips you leave do not go to the waitress who served you per se. Instead, they go into a tips box, and the money is then equally split among all the waiters and waitresses. How do I know this? I was a waitress here before.
I've worked very hard for my money. So, if you ask me to fork over $115 for an $86 meal (not including the extra 16% charge), you've gotta be frigging kidding me! It doesn't work that way here missy.|W|P|109876530747384221|W|P|Are You A Tipper?|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/26/2004 01:11:00 PM|W|P| CatWoman|W|P|OMG I'm so insomniac from sleeping all of yesterday and here I am FOFLOL from your Mr Rude code blog. You guys R hilarious! I think it depends on the tax bracket you fall into on how much is taken out here. With me, it's only like 20 something. I still havent figured exactly if it's 22 or 24. Yea, the lazy asses in this country keep popping out bastards that we the tax payers have to support. There is no stopping it. In the south and most metro cities it's the Mexican and Puerto Rican community that are the biggest offenders of this. As long as they pop out kids, the kid is cared for. They are given vouchers and credits for free medical, food and often cheap housing. It's sickening. They do this by never marrying their kid'd dad, so they fein the un wed single mom sob story and reap the benefits of the gainfully employed working dad. There are so many other scams they play, I could write a book. They end up with enough savings for a house after 10 or 15 years on welfare. It's sickening. In answer to your original question, only the very very wealthy would get taxed 30 or 35%. For most people it's under 30% Any additional moneys taken out may be health care insurance deductions, retirement funds, and there are miscellaneous funds that are optional and not mandatory. Even retirement funds is optional.10/26/2004 01:17:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|Here, poor people like myself get taxed 4~5%. But no dole, no free medical care, nothing. Which works out fine for me. 20 something percent of your pay is still pretty high!
We have something here called CPF where we contribute 5~20% of our pay but we get it back when we retire or we can use it to help with house payments.
The poor people here get cheap housing provided they can prove they are worthy recipients. It ain't easy to fool the government here.10/26/2004 02:05:00 PM|W|P| Jayaxe|W|P|Ooh I realized you just added me. Kamsa Hammida! (Korean way of saying thank you.)

Nah, not pissed. Just indignant. Indignance is my emotion of the month.10/26/2004 02:19:00 PM|W|P| Unknown|W|P|In Singapore, I hardly ever tip. As you say, the 10% is already a fair bit! Also, worse than you mention, sometimes the bosses / proprietors pocket that 10%
But if there was a bunch of coins, I tend to pocket it too, cos I feel it's an insult to give them $1.17 for example..10/26/2004 02:33:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|Woof>> Yeah the bosses pocket the dough. So people cannot blame us for not tipping. If they didn't have the service charge, for sure I'd tip more.10/26/2004 03:05:00 PM|W|P| Unknown|W|P|I think the dynamics suck for the wait-staff either way.. If I had a nice meal with 4 friends and spent $300, even if there was no 10% service charge, it'd be painful for me to write a tip for $30 to $50..10/26/2004 03:07:00 PM|W|P| littlecartnoodles|W|P|I don't think it's the responsibility of the diner to ensure that the wait staff are adequately compensated. It's the restauranteur's job. He should build the payroll cost into the food and drink prices.
If tipping means I am paying for the waiter's service, then does that mean I can choose my waiter ?
"Hello, can I have a table for two at 7pm, with ... is Cindy that blonde from LA ? Yeah, plus Cindy. Don't gimme that college dork again."
I think the tipping culture in the US is ridiculous. Why do cab drivers even have to be tipped ? I had dinner in Miami a few years ago and the bill said, "For your convenience, we have added a 19% gratuity to your bill."
Wah, so considerate ...10/26/2004 03:11:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|Siao... imagine if the meal came up to $200. The tip would be $40. The waitress would be grossly overpaid. Why should the tip be proportional to the cost of the food? It should be proportional to the time you took to finish the meal and had her running around like a headless chicken fetching you water, cleaner cutlery and what not.
What's it like in HK? Do you hafta tip?10/26/2004 03:17:00 PM|W|P| PP|W|P|Income tax in America is actually quite tame compared to European countries. Here in Australia, most people pay around 35% (it's progressive, so it depends) There is also an extra 1.5% Medicare Levy, so it adds up to be ALOT of tax. I say I deserve to go on the dole for a few years! -_-10/26/2004 05:02:00 PM|W|P| littlecartnoodles|W|P|Restaurants in HK also add a 10% service charge like in Singapore, so HKers seldom tip as well. If a place does not charge it, people would normally leave the coins behind when the waiter returns with the change.
BTW, does everyone know that if you pay with a credit card and wish to leave a tip, you should put cash instead of filling in the "TIPS" amount on the charge slip ? I understand that most bosses don't pass that on to their staff.10/26/2004 05:05:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|Some restaurants don't even bother to take into account my tip from the credit card bill. In Asia, we have such a thing as a service charge on the bill which is 10% of the total amount, GST which is 5% of the total amount and CSS which is 1% of the total amount.
Hence, our bill comes up to 16% more. With the service charge, the tip is optional.
Please find out more about our culture before you start flaming us. It does not work the same way in Singapore and in the US.

Every place is different. Even if Singapore is like the U.S. in many ways. In many ways IT IS NOT. So shut your pie hole until you really live like the Romans and your head OUT of the clouds! One more thing I find is unfair in America is that hardworking people with a decent job get taxed 30~40% of their income, which goes to supporting those on dole (social welfare??). And some of them go on dole because they're lazy and not because they really need it. How much taxes do you pay?

Yesterday night, I was talking to a mutual friend of ours and apparently, Mr. Rude slit his wrists a few months back because the girl he was going out with for two whole very long days ditched him. I refuse to associate myself with him any longer. One wrong move from me and he might do something drastic again. The guilt would be unbearable. I don't have the time nor the inclination to deal with such an unstable person.
Last night, someone I used to date awhile back called me. He's in a happy long term relationship now. We talked about his girlfriend and his plans for the future. I was happy for him. Until he started talking about how I've grown in the past few years. I replied that working life has forced me to grow up. He was silent. And then I realised the fucker was talking about my chest! He then launched into how sexy it is bla bla bla... (I stopped him midway). How utterly inappropriate and I was indignant to say the very least!
Morons! Why do I deal with morons everyday?!
K is picking me up from work and sending me home today. He baked me more goodies. Why can't I fall for good guys like him? I will buy him Jap buffet dinner at one of the hotels next week.

I feel so sad for Arsenal. Arsenal, who have pummelled through every team without a loss for the past 40 odd games, have finally been defeated by the Red Devils. I never thought their unbeaten run would end by the team I hate the most. Here goes:

How wrong or right am I? More to come when I'm bored. Design your own cartoon here.
I have $10 and a dinner at stake on the Man U Vs. Arsenal match tonight. May Alan Smith trip on his laces and fall flat on his face. May Thierry Henry do his little dance all the way to the goalpost. Good luck to me!

It's 8:17am on a Sunday morning. I slept at 3am. What is wrong with the picture?
Remember the entry where I mentioned I once dated a guy whom I communicated with in Hokkien? He's out of jail. Whoopee. He fucking calls me at 8am on a Sunday morning (after I specifically told him never to do it again) and asks if I'm sleeping. I reply very angrily that I fucking am sleeping and he ignores that and launches into conversation. Lu wu ta por peng yu boh? Lu kisi teng Penang? (Do you have a boyfriend? When are you coming back to Penang?)
FUCK YOU FOR RUINING MY SLEEP ON A SUNDAY MORNING!
Pardon my french, but I believe all of you can understand my situation. I cannot believe I could have dated someone so inconsiderate. I cannot believe I put my phone on silent mode but forgot to turn off vibration. And then I saw scenes of the quake in Japan.
I complain that the Singapore government is too strict - everything is "by law". And then I heard about the suicide bombings in Kabul and Iran.
I complain that I have no money to buy luxury items. And then I remembered the conversation I had with the barrista of the coffee cart at my office building who has 3 kids, his wife just got retrenched and he doesn't have enough to top up his Ezylink card.
I complain that people keep annoying me by calling and asking me out when I don't feel like it. And then I realise it's because I have friends who care about me.

And just the fact that you can go and buy a coffee at a coffee cart once in a while, is a luxury that very very few even have. My (half) siblings have never ever dined anywhere nice. There are so many many people in the U.S.A. who have died never having dined somewhere nice or traveled beyond a 100 mile radius of their home.

Last night, when asked who he think deserves to come back next week, he said Christopher. Which got my blood boiling and made me feel like screaming "Stop thinking with your dick, Dick!". You see, Christopher is a pretty boy. He's tanned, dark and sexy. And you see, Dick Lee is gay. Put two and two together....
I am selling a Samsung SGH-X430. Brand new, never used before. Outside, you buy it for $320-$350. In Mustafa, you get it for $300. I'm selling it for $280 ono. Email me if you're interested. I think it's a phone more suitable for girls.

The contestants got to sing a song from their favourite idols. The songs are below with my rating out of 5 *.
Sylvester - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing - Aerosmith ****
Olinda - When A Man Loves A Woman - Bette Midler ***
Maia - I forgot the name of the song - Shakira *
Taufik - Yeah - Usher *
Daphne - I Turn To You - Christina Aguilera *
Leandra - Dreaming of You - Selina*
Christopher - Angels - Robbie Williams **
Maia was voted out.10/23/2004 02:48:00 PM|W|P| cour marly|W|P|Thanks, luv. How did Sylvester end up on bubble then? Or was it just a ploy?10/23/2004 06:27:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|I definitely think it's a ploy. After all, they made it seem like he was bottom 3 the past two weeks, which I think is impossible since he has such a huge fan base.
You notice, in American Idol they always called on the three people with the least votes, but in Singapore Idol, they just announce that there are two groups, one safe and one not.10/23/2004 11:19:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|A few years back. Apparently he had a Japanese boyfriend or something.10/22/2004 10:35:00 AM|W|P|FF|W|P|Boss did not convert his driving license. Boss’ wife did not convert her driving license as well. They have used their native driving license for more than a year and under Singapore law, you have to convert it to a Singaporean one after that.
Boss’ wife got into an accident yesterday. They find out they cannot claim insurance because they don’t have proper driving licenses. The cost of repairing the car is $6,000. The cost of repairing the other party’s car is still unknown.
At times like these, I’m glad I’m poor and can’t afford a car. I’m also glad I don’t have a wife who can’t drive. Sometimes it just hits you how good your life is.

An hour later, she's sitting on his lap watching TV on his bed. I think maybe he spilled superglue on his lap and she accidentally fell on his lap, hence their permanent Siamese-twins-joined-at-the-groin-and-bum position. But, they're happily in love and the world does need more love doesn't it?
In the true spirit of love, this song says it all:
I've waited all my life
To cross this line
To the only thing that's true
So I will not hide
It's time to try
Anything to be with you
All my life I've waited
This is true

If you speak little English and you need to know the definition of "cringe", all you had to do was watch Singapore Idol today.
- Olinda's sleeveless tight black gown emphasized her gigantic arms. I barely heard what she sang as my eyes were fixated on her arms.
- Maia is annoying. Stop with the booty shaking and start singing!
- I hate Leandra's kid-like voice
- More mispronunciation by Gurmit. Weeks = wicks. Dreaming = drimming. Secret = Cigarette.
- Taufik has no individuality. He's always trying to mimic someone.
- Daphne's version of the song lacked power and consistency. Shame on her for trying to do a Christina song. Shame on the judges for praising her.

He wore the T-shirt I bought for his birthday, which Kitten modelled for me. Looking good!
I hate GV in Plaza Sing. The movie is supposed to begin at 7:05pm. Begin it did not. After half an hour of repeated commercials and sporadic movie trailers only did the bloody movie begin at 7:35pm. I'm never going there again and I am going to write a complaint letter.

HE IS IN THE LENNIE KRAVITZ & THE ROCK category of WOWISH black men. (Or half breed black men). He's gorgeous to me at least. Sky Cap'n looked boring in the trailers will see it when it comes out on cable, but do agree on Jude Law being delish. Can't wait to see Alfie. Woof!
Do y'all have CSI Miami and CSI New York too? I like those and Crossing Jordan another type of a show w/crime docs & P.I.'s.10/21/2004 11:49:00 AM|W|P| FF|W|P|Woof>> It's different. Us single gals are called spinsters but you single boys are called "eligible bachelors". No one has heard of an eligible spinster before. Ptooi.
MsMeow>> I should start a course on how to write a good complaint letter.
Yes they show CSI Miami as well and the other CSI with Grissom and Warrick. Is the latter called CSI New York?10/21/2004 12:37:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|Sorry Puff. He's too exhausted from the romp with me last night. YOu better bring some blue pills with ya. ;)10/21/2004 01:45:00 PM|W|P| Cowboy Caleb|W|P|not good ah.
lucky i didnt watch yet.10/21/2004 03:43:00 PM|W|P| JellyGirl|W|P|I want to watch this, but dunno if I can take Gwyneth Paltrow in it. I think it depends on how much I want to see Jude Law's hotness.10/21/2004 03:48:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|You should watch it because our tastes in movies are completely terbalik.10/21/2004 04:02:00 PM|W|P| FF|W|P|Above comment meant for Cowboy.
Jellygirl>> I hate Gwyneth, but I have to admit she was good in this one. None of a sickeningly sweet coyness. :)10/20/2004 08:56:00 AM|W|P|FF|W|P|My housemates and I were in a state of shock yesterday. We received the PUB bill and it was $212! Last month's electricity consumption had doubled from the month before. As had the water. For a 4 room flat, that is extremely excessive and my sister's theory was that the rascal switches on the aircon by herself whilst I'm working. I am going to write a complaint letter to the PUB board.
Did anyone catch CSI 3 last night? Grissom is hot! I love smart men, but not so smart such that I feel stupid. CSI has truly opened my eyes. When I'm angry at someone, I no longer plan a million ways in my head to murder that person, because I know my DNA will be all over them and I'll always leave evidence behind but most importantly, the evidence never lies!
I am bored. Boss was in Germany the past two weeks, on leave this week and will be in Australia next week. Complacency has set in.|W|P|109823436908652899|W|P|My PUB Bill Nearly Killed Me|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com10/20/2004 09:51:00 AM|W|P| Ryanson|W|P|Like who will know who the DNA belongs to?? I don't think they have a record of our DNA (Correct me if I am wrong). But fair enough that there will always be evidence left behind.10/20/2004 10:06:00 AM|W|P| FF|W|P|If I'm a suspect they will surely take a sample of my DNA. Because I surely wouldn't murder a complete stranger and let's say my ex boyfriend is found murdered, surely I will be one of the suspects oui?10/20/2004 10:53:00 AM|W|P| |W|P|it's easy to kill a bug lah, just roll some newspapers, smack and it's dead. dun need to test dna or what one. -kit10/20/2004 11:12:00 AM|W|P| FF|W|P|Muahahaaaa. It's a damn fat bug in case you forgot!10/20/2004 11:38:00 AM|W|P| PP|W|P|I am bored too. Dunno wot to do liao.
