But in his case, it’s overkill, up to the point where I lie through my teeth and say I’ve another call coming through and hang up on him. My mum is extremely happy, all of us are. My dad was very stressed because he was involved in his surgery and it’s a great relief for him that everything is A-ok. For the past week, I’ve felt immense dissatisfaction wrt my job. Today, I finally gathered the guts to ask for more leave after my uncle, who’s a manager himself, gave me a pep talk on the correct approach to ask for something. The fact is, my boss already allocated me more leave a few months ago and that stupid bitch who was supposed to have told me never said a word. BITCH. So my boss says I now have 14 days and I open my mouth to argue why that bitch has 21 days. Before I could get the words out, he gave me a raise! So I promptly shut my yap and beamed like the Cheshire cat. The bitch has 21 days but she hasn’t gotten a raise in all the time she’s worked here. I have 14 days, but I’ve gotten 3 raises in 14 months. Now, which is better eh? She can shove the extra 7 days she has where the sun don’t shine. My heart stopped beating for a few seconds. So many thoughts about death hit me, and it was overwhelming. Today, he went for surgery and we waited for my mum to call us with news. We were nervous wrecks. After all, major surgery when you're 81 can be fatal. Thank God he came out fine. I honestly am so grateful my granddad has at least several years left with us. I want him to be able to see his great grandkids and give them beautiful Chinese names. He gave us all beautiful Chinese names. Yesterday, two of my fellow bloggers lost a loved one. Albeit not knowing these two people personally, I feel their grief. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. ~Kahlil Gibran When you lose a loved one, a part of you dies with them. Well, perhaps that's a good thing, cos I dozed through the Monday Blues. We rent potted plants in our office from a man I know only as Ah Tan. He cannot speak English, so I ask him in my halting Mandarin to get me a cactus for my desk. He nods in comprehension and two days later, he comes back and tells me excitedly "Miss, I got bootiful cactus for you, all the way from Horlan". After analysing horlan for half an hour, I realise he meant Holland. He hands me the plastic bag and I hand him $8. I look inside and gasp in utter indignance. I'm still waiting. All I feel are my very weak right arm and my aching buns, which I hope means they're slowly transforming into buns of steel. Having witnessed the life of luxury at the Tanah Merah Country Club, I'm even more determined to get a rich hubby or to become a tai-tai ASAP. Flame me if you want, but there's no way a mere lil engineer such as myself could ever afford a life of luxury on my meagre pay. I am simply being realistic. By the way, I saw a bald TCS actor at the restaurant there, forgot his name. I finally found someone who's willing to part with his moolah to watch the Eagles. Unfortunately for us though, the seats available are horrendous, mainly at the rear of the stage, far far behind. If that's the case, I might as well watch them on DVD. American Idols anyone? How do I know if someone likes me more than a friend? This friend of mine is always asking me out and he is the ultimate gentleman. Yesterday, he brought up the idea of us going to some exotic island for a holiday at the end of the year. He also brought up the idea of sending me to work every morning because my office is near his. He also keeps asking me what I want for my birthday which is a month away. Would a mere friend do all that or am I simply imagining things as per usual? He has never hinted interest in me though, so perhaps I am just being paranoid again. |W|P|109620365010326815|W|P|And The Rich Get Richer...|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com9/26/2004 10:48:00 PM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|I wouldn't mind. I had a gay friend who wanted to make plans to go away with me. It was because I was his only friend who didn't have kids or so many bills and I liked to travel. We went to London and had fun. Sometimes males will treat you the same as their male friends. Men like being with women but don't consider them marriage material. They like to hang out with someone who's fun and well if it happens to be a woman.....so be it. It could be something and it could be nothing. Time will tell. Also maybe he senses that you're not attracted to him and is just hoping that in time you may be. Meanwhile, he figures he'll woo you slightly.

I was married to a Filipino guy who was from one of the most wealthiest familiies there and I was so unhappy. He drugged and drank and it was horrible. Some might say big deal. But I just wanted a straight normal guy and not be miserable. Like having to watch my husband puke all over the john every weekend. (Not to mention cleaning it up)What an asshole. We went to testdrive cars as my friend K was looking to buy a new car. My realistic dream car is now the Peugeot 407 or the Volve S60. I think it's probably just the fact that all of us have stinky sweaty armpits from the humidity and that gets us cranky. Singapore Idol was a joke today. Lighten up while you still can Don't even try to understand Just find your place to make your stand And take it easy Edit: My friend says we should join SDU, for the sole purpose of erm,.. making new contacts. I shuddered at the thought of going to one of the events, for the following reasons: 1) I might meet The Bug there (that would be hilarious) 2) I'm in denial. I'm not a desperate lonely woman. I'm not. Really. There's a stigma associated with matchmaking clubs such as SDU. It's the last resort for the singles who are ready to get married but have not found the one, it's for lonely and desperate people, it's for the nerds, etc. We've heard it all. On the contrary though, I think it makes sense to form an organisation to gather the singles. Not only do you make new friends, you may hit it off with somebody you meet there. It makes total sense doesn't it? Yet, I'm hesitant to come out of my hibernation. Going through the motions of getting to know new people, answering repetitive endless questions about myself and reciprocating the questions, would just drain the life outta me. But then, since I recycle my friends and seldom meet new people, how lah will I ever meet the rich right one and become a tai-tai?|W|P|109586437217670128|W|P|The Eagles|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com9/23/2004 09:54:00 AM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|That is a damn good idea. I cannot complete my work on time because I’m forever on the phone liaising with both customers and my shipping dept. Our shipping dept is apparently very inefficient. Shipments are delayed, proper documents are not sent out on time and inevitably, customers get angry and scream at me despite it not being my fault. No wonder I’m so patient nowadays. I get lots of practice at work. I tried hinting to my boss, but either he’s very blur or very smart cos he doesn’t seem to get it. In fact, he asked me to handle a big shipping problem 20 mins ago. Aiyo. Yesterday, we finally clinched the big order I’ve been working on for 3 months. Boss was happy, I was happy. Never eat half a papaya at a time. If I liked champagne, I'd buy a bottle and pop the cork. But I don't. I was told contrasting news to the bad news yesterday and that makes me so happy and relieved. I hate the fact that I'm so far away and I cannot be there for certain people. It's frustrating. I realised something very important today. The only thing that affects me at this point in my life is my family. Nothing else. Friends, boyfriends and acquaintances are easily replaceable. I've moved around so much in my life that I know you can always replace those three groups of people. But you can't do the same with family. It's amazing how much I learn about myself as days go by. I think, subconciously, I've always known that. I mean, I always respect and admire guys who love their mummies and get along well with their siblings. I can't seem to respect guys who badmouth their parents no matter how bad the situation. I ask myself, if he treats his parents that way, how will he treat me next time? It's an effective method to judge how loyal and loving a person he is. Ah well. I've had both. It's sooooo sick. A guy whose families need to know everything. They get in your business. And the jackass tells them everything. There was my 4 or 5 attempts to play tennis, but couldn’t because of one disaster to another. Tried to go blading a few times but it rained. Tonight I’m supposed to go for aerobics, tomorrow tennis with a friend and Wednesday swimming. But today, as some Singaporean guys put it, my auntie came a’visiting (why do they say that?!!). Today and tomorrow I’ll be curled up in pain and swimming is definitely out of the question on Wednesday. Is this a sign or is my mind playing tricks on me? After I graduated from uni, I was pretty active. Rollerbladed a lot, played tennis and bam! A serious medical condition hit me. So I’m wondering if someone somewhere is trying to prevent a repeat of last year? Am I going nuts? I had insomnia last night. It was frustrating because I knew it’d be tough to get up this morning. One may be brilliant at solving complicated mathematical problems, yet a simple family matter could unnerve him for the longest time. I openly admit, my EQ is higher than my IQ. I may fumble at solving complicated engineering problems, but I know how to avoid getting hurt and how to deal with relationships. I'm unsure if this is a good thing. Someone recently told me I'm deprived. Everybody learns the harsh lessons of life through the pain and sorrow of having loved and lost. I beg to differ. I've seen plenty of times how the power of love can bring one to one's knees. I've friends who've wanted to commit suicide because their loved ones abandoned them. I've seen the power of love too many times and it's hold on a person. And I swore to myself, I will never ever be that person. Thanks to her post, I had an overload of Carpenter's songs today. Eagles music was inspired by my dad.9/17/2004 11:07:00 AM|W|P|FF|W|P|I'm very demotivated today because i found out my colleagues all have 18 days of leave and I only have 10. It has come to a point where I'm tempted to throw in the towel and hand my boss my resignation letter. I have never encountered such injustice in any workplace before. I know I'm the most valuable employee in the company and my boss will give in to my demands, but the sad fact is, I shouldn't have to beg for equality. Did he think, because I was a fresh graduate last year and the job market was so bad, he could squeeze me? This is bordering on the ridiculous and I feel so discriminated against. Now I know how discrimination feels and it doesn't feel good at all.|W|P|109539073099610841|W|P|Discrimination Sucks|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com9/17/2004 11:32:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Unknown|W|P|10 is an outrage!

Just wait till an opportune time, then just tell him you are aware that everyone has 18 and you have 10; whether there is any particylar reason why this so. There's no room for begging in this one man..9/17/2004 11:39:00 AM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|I can't. My temp colleague told me this and if I tell him, she'll get in trouble. It's not uncommon for colleagues to talk about how many days of leave they get, and if nothing else, you've been in the company for a year and surely can guesstimate that everyone take more than 50% more leave that you..

Of course, the path of lesser resistance is simply to tell ur boss that you've asked around your friends, and realised that 10 days of leave is the exception rather than norm..9/17/2004 01:15:00 PM|W|P|Blogger PinkyTwins|W|P|Yikes. I swear, I've never fallen in love faster than I did tonight. He completely took my breath away with his twinkling eyes and gorgeous dimpled smile. I watched him in complete awe as he effortlessly belted out one of my favourite rock songs. I voted twice for him and made my sister vote once.

My principle about not dating younger guys is slowly going down the drain.

It's been a long time since I played hooky from work. It was absolute bliss. I watched The Terminal at Lido, chilled at Coffee Bean at Borders, drank beer at Siem Reap and finished the day off with sushi at Sushi Tei. Everybody should play hooky once in awhile, it's rejuvenating for the soul.

After Shower
Cik Rascal
This is rascal after her shower. She hates showers and will rub her whole body on my duvet. So i have to dry her really well. She likes wearing the tudung too.

After playing a game courtesy of Miss Powerpuff, it was getting frustratingly obvious i was going nowhere. So i asked a few people on my MSN to help me out.

One of them was asking me how to start, and I jokingly said that it seems like i'm smarter than him, contrary to my earlier belief. He then blew his top and said I'm just using the game to prove that I'm smarter than him and I've proven it and he hopes I'm happy now. If I had wanted to do that, I wouldn't even send you a game I can't solve. Take a chill pill mister!

I concocted my own recipe today:
Cook white rice
Saute onions and garlic
Add sliced meat (I used burger patty, was too lazy to defrost meat)
Add cooked rice
Add pasta sauce
Add mozarella cheese
Ready to serve.

Oh, lordy, my friend just proudly announced he has the same crap as I do.

2) Turn to face the picture. Click on the upper right corner of the frame. Then click on the upper left corner. Then the lower right corner. Take the money.
3) Turn face the chair. Click on the cushion and take the piece of paper.
4) Go to the pipe thingy on the wall and take the capsule out of it.
5) Click on the paper and then keep clicking on the pen until it's written "Help Me."
6) Put the paper into the capsule.
7) Put the capsule back into the pipe and press the red button. Wait for it to come back then take the paper back out. It's now written, "Help (drawing of a skull) Me"
8) Convert all letters in numbers and you will get....leave this for you guys to solve yourself. Note: drawing of the skull also represent a dial on the phone
9) Go to the phone and dial the number. A man say "OK."
10) Click on the money. Then put the money into the capsule
11) Go to the pipe and put the capsule back inside. Press the red button. When it comes back take the key out.
12) Use the key on the door.

Very easy.

Note: Sometimes, the capsule won't return with the key. Then you will have to draw on the yen bill using the pen and send it out again. Eventually it will return with a key. I don't know if you know this, but I've a nasty temper. When I'm provoked, even I am scared of the limitless amount of anger than gathers its fury within my body. I act without thinking, and many a time, I've said horrible things to people only to regret it later. I never think first. One day, my temper will be my downfall. Last new year's eve, a group of friends and myself went to Sentosa for the foam party. Things were going swell, we even took photos with local celebrities. After the partying, we gathered at the beach and just played games and drank whiskey coke. At 5am in the morning and being rather intoxicated from the booze, my friend (let's call him Al) and I got into a heated argument. He said something about my gf which I didn't like and I started screaming at him. The ironic thing is, my gf didn't care what he said and in my drunken state, I took it upon myself to be her saviour. I went crazy and started shouting at him and he called me names and we awoke all the Banglas sleeping on the beach. Everybody was watching us. I then flicked my ciggy in his face and stormed off. He apologised to me many times after that incident and my stubborn self could not forgive him (even though it wasn't his fault). A few months ago, I msged him on MSN to say hello. He was his usual nice self and coincidentally, I met him in HV the same day. But since that frightful NYE, things will never again be the same between us. I learnt a harsh lesson from that event. I control my temper much better now and if anyone makes me angry, I'll just lock myself away till I've calmed down. Better still, I don't get angry at trivial matters anymore. Since I got the rascal, it's amazing how patient I am now. I know I can't blame it on hormones all the time, and I do wonder, how come I have more anger inside me than anyone else? Is it a condition that can be cured? |W|P|109515136813766901|W|P|A Story|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com9/14/2004 05:14:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Unknown|W|P|You sound like the Incredible Sulk, oops, I mean Incredible Hulk..

I would have thought he'd ask how I'm doing or make polite conversation but he cuts to the chase and says he needs a favour. I hope it's not money again, I think to myself. But it's not. He's applying for some scholarship to go overseas and he needs a testimonial from the VP of his ex company. And since he's such a busy person, he calls me up to write it for him so he can pass it to the VP to sign. I was pissed off. The audacity of him to call me to ask for a favour, without asking how I'm doing and assuming that I'm not busy. I say no and hang up. Now, I'm ridden with guilt and am tempted to write one. But no, I'm not going to. The last episode of friends was a disappointment. I had a box of tissues handy but never got the chance to use them. I guess the producers wanted a not so sad ending. Sigh, I'm going to miss that series. And yes, there's going to be another void in my life because of this! Edit: I've decided to do one good deed and say one nice thing about a person per day. This evil has got to stop. Good deed is: Bought breakfast for my colleague C today. Lucky person is: My colleague C. She's so kind and nice, so much so that when she tells a lie (like when my boss tells her to say he's not in, when he is in), she goes to confession at her church to confess her sin. |W|P|109512421467381005|W|P|Mean Old Grumpy Hag I Am|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com9/14/2004 11:00:00 AM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|It's a dog eat dog world out there and we cannot be nice to just anyone. When I'm in Malaysia, be it KL or Penang, I walk on the streets clutching my handbag to my chest and looking back every now and then to make sure no one is following me. Before I get in my car, I look in the backseat to make sure no one is crouching there. Very seldom do I go clubbing in Malaysia, because driving home late at night is dangerous, especially for a chick. Being in Singapore, I walk out in the middle of the night, without an all consuming fear in my gut that I'll be mugged or raped. I was in absolute shock when I first saw little kids riding the public buses on their own - things like this don't happen in Malaysia. Your kid will be kidnapped, raped or sodomised in no time. Nobody has their cake and eats it too. I live in a safe and clean country, but the downside is, I can't afford many things in Singapore. Owning a car is out of the question because, in an effort to reduce congestion on the roads, we have to buy COE. I can't buy my own place because it's too expensive because land is scarce here. Food is relatively expensive here because Singapore imports almost everything. In Malaysia, cars are cheap and land is aplenty. If I were to be working in Malaysia now, I will enjoy the luxury of owning a car and a place of my own. Food is cheap, parking is cheap, cigarettes are cheaper. Yet, the question that bugs me is, would I sacrifice living in safety and order for luxury items I can well live without? I would so hate making that final decision after my bond is over in two years. My rascal bit my housemate today and she drew blood. I'm worried because she's not her usual self. I will have to take her to the vet tomorrow and spend $80 just for the vet to tell me she's fine, she's just moody like her mummy. |W|P|109499975286546204|W|P|I Still Love Malaysia|W|P|ms.finicky@gmail.com9/13/2004 12:08:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Cowboy Caleb|W|P|I realized this a few years ago. Some places are safer than others and Singapore happens to be small enough to be controlled. Being small also meant cars are a luxury, more a want than a need. My sister and I love Maoam sweets. Somehow, I always end up pronouncing Maoam as Maomi. I have no clue why, maybe cos it sounds better. I came across this as I was randomly surfing blogs: Apparently, their new wrapper, as seen above, has offended a Catholic college somewhere. Cus the darned fruits are deemed to be humping one another with deliriously leery expressions and tongue hanging out of their mouth. Especially the green thingy and the limone... Excerpts from the article: "We are shocked at the shameless presentation of sexual practices on the wrapping, which includes not only sexual intercourse but also fellatio and cunnilingus," wrote the St Blasien Jesuit College near Bonn. "The lemon, which from the drawing looks female, is obviously enjoying it with the greatest of pleasure." I've been eating this sweet for yonks, and never once did I think of the picture on the wrapper as fruits copulating. It's hilarious how the most religious people are the ones who always twist and turn innocent enough issues to something sexual. She's such a sweetie and her smile is gorgeous. I think she's half Mauritian and her dad left her when she was young. There were plenty of scary looking ones today though. Hee. My colleague, who's on maternity leave, called today and said she'd be coming back soon. Bummer. I can't stand her. She's admin staff, so she's supposed to handle claims, book air tickets and hotel rooms for us, do the accounts, that sort of thing. The last time I had claims, she asked me to draw up my own table and list down my claims myself. When my other colleague needed an air ticket to Germany, she passed him the number of the travel agent and asked him to do it himself. OH GOD. Sidetrack. Jerry got in the top 10! Finally! It was getting a lil predictable so this unexpected twist is refreshing. He gave a long acceptance speech thanking his family, his voters and his Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Now, where was I? Oh. My brow was furrowed in deep concentration, I covered my other ear with my hand to block out external sounds, the phone volume was set to max and i made her repeat everything twice. Still, nada. I'm not even sure if she's speaking English. One of my customers, who I have been liaising with for the past year (but have never met), popped by my office to say hi today. On the phone, he sounded really young and very friendly. I had conjured up his looks in my mind – young and boyish looking with a fishbowl haircut. Boy, was I wrong. The W.O.P.s here in Chicago would croak if they read your recipes. You use olive oil, a ton of garlic, some onion if you like, FRESH BASIL and OREGANO if you like. Noth much though. Using a bit of fresh dried is great.Using real pulped tomatos is great also, to add to some tomato sauce and/or paste.
You must use salt and pepper as they are flavour enhancers. Simmer all this for hours or a short time. Hours works best, but a half hour works in a rush.
If you get a mini chopper pulping the tomato isn't a hassle with bulky food processers. It's small and compace and the cup is easy to rinse off. I love Black and Deckers motor. Braun works too.
You really need to stop with the ham and bacon. Crikey! Italians usually serve this pasta with Sausage, shrimp, or they add chopped ground steak to the red sauce after they browned and seasoned the meat in a frying pan (and drained all the fat).
Molto buono!
About that other thing. Yea, some people R jack asses,
they can't respect other peoples taste in music. Just because I don't like American country music doesn't mean that it SUX. Or that you're a stupid hillbilly because you listen to it. That's what SOME ignorant-arrogant people who live here in Chicago think.

I am no expert, but here is a good post about the "best" ever recipe.

I normally use bacon, eggs and cheese (parmesan +/- pecorino, otherwise cheddar that comes in a block, not Kraft) and a bit of olive oil. No onion.

1. cook the pasta. take egg out of fridge. grate cheese coarsely.
2. in non-stick pan, fry the bacon until crispy. set bacon aside. if the pan has some oil left in it, OK, if not, add some olive oil. wait for the pasta to cook in meantime.
3. when pasta is done, throw pasta and 1 tablespoon pasta water into the hot bacon-ed pan together with the egg. Toss with the fire turned off (the pan is hot enough)until egg is lightly cooked. Mix in grated cheese, bacon and pepper. Serve.

cheers

She's inevitably upset but I'm glad she finally found out so she can start getting over him. This blog is deliberately blue because I got sick of the earlier virginal white template and blue most often reflects my mood. While watching the evening news on TV Mobile on my journey back from work, I learnt the following: 1) Anwar is finally free - I never ever thought he had homosexual tendencies and I always thought our ex-PM was a little senile. 2) The prime minister of Japan is kinda cute in a Dustin Hoffman kinda way. 3) Wayne Rooney succumbed to the evils of the Red Devils. I never thought I'd live to see the day. 4) Lee Hsien Loong is kinda hot - He's eloquent and my sister thinks he's hot too. Tonight, my fingers were poised to vote for Sylvester, the Ah Beng (I've got a soft spot for them) but in the end, Daphne got my vote. She was different and Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" always gets me grooving! The show tonight was crap though. There was just too much sickeningly sweet love in the air. We all love each other. Everybody's really talented. I'm singing this song for my friends whom I love so much, my family whom I love so much.. bla bla bla. I tuned out at this point. Ikea's pretty flashy stuff to have in an office, isn't it? Most Australian offices are fitted with good ol' Officeworks crap. I so wish they would have an old movies marathon. I'd be the first to queue up in my jammies.9/01/2004 06:13:00 PM|W|P|Blogger Unknown|W|P|You know, I must be one of the five people in the world that can't stand this film. I've never been big on musicals anyway, but there's just something about Grease that really rubs me the wrong way.

Perhaps it's John Travolta flaunting his taught toosh before he knew what the next fifteen years of his career would be like. Perhaps it's Sandy's turning from prim prude to cheap slut to win J.T's affections that bothers me. I suspect, at the end of the day, it's the music I've heard too often during my childhood by a teenage sister.

In any case, I loathe Grease with a passion. I can't watch it; it's exactly what the doctors would play for me in a cinema with Ludwig van in the background to remedy any hint of ultra-violence that may have been inspired in me. And it would work. Because the film already makes me sick.

I think it also has something to do with Australians' infatuation with their every appearance in an international film, something now slowly being remedied. Thanks, Rusty. Thanks a million. But back in the eighties (the Decade of Shame), Liv Newton-John was all we had. So Grease, of course, was worshipped like some deity of a cinematic pantheon.

It may be that Moulin Rouge dispelled a lot of these demons for me; a musical I could watch; a film Australians could ogle and point to whilst whispering excitedly that, yes, Nicole Kidman is one of ours; and it didn't make me ill. Besides, what was Nic wearing in that first scene? Whoooaahh!

No wonder we're so damn preoccupied with the medal count at the Olympics.9/01/2004 06:28:00 PM|W|P|Blogger littlecartnoodles|W|P|It was after many many years that I found out the catchy "Yo-wala-wala" chorus in the song is actually "You're the one that I want".

Powerpuff>> Movies cum musicals are da best yes?9/02/2004 10:35:00 AM|W|P|Blogger Unknown|W|P|Bitter? Moi? Hehe... well, more cynical than bitter, really. I just don't like pop culture much. Tacky doesn't do it for me; I'm the one when people say "I know it's loathesome pop-tack trash, but I just had to watch it," asks "whyyyyyy???" Because to me, it's the principle of not watching pop-tack trash that is the whole point of saying that it's pop-tack trash.

As for old, I'm not quite there yet. But if people don't know my age, they often guess me to be thirty or fourty, so I'm not sure if that's much of a compliment. My linguistic pedantry probably doesn't help much, either.

But, there is no problem with being opposites. Zenny (see Hyper-thalamus) and I are opposites too, big-time, and we get along juuuuust fine.9/02/2004 10:55:00 AM|W|P|Blogger FF|W|P|DisSenter>> You are nasty.
